Good morning!
We are starting out our week with the NWEA Reading (Monday morning) and the NWEA Language (Tuesday morning).
Reading: In reading, we will begin the second week of our first unit. Our focus will be on how do your actions affect others? We will be working on predictions and problem/solution as we read this week. This weeks focus is on natural disasters. In light of recent events in our country and world, we will also be reading pieces on the hurricanes and earthquakes that have been occurring over the last couple weeks.
Math: In math, we will be finishing up chapter one. On Monday, we will be continuing subtracting multi-digit numbers. On Tuesday, we will be working on problem-solving involving addition and subtraction problems. These will be in the form of word problems. On Wednesday, we will have a review day. We will be reviewing place value, rounding, addition, and subtraction for our upcoming assessment. A study guide will be sent home. On Friday, we will take our math assessment to check in on our knowledge of the concepts in chapter one.
On Thursday, we rotate to Mrs. Fagan's class for Math Mix-up.
Spelling: For spelling, we are in Unit 1 Week 2 (long A). I will be sending home another flyer with login information in the Tuesday envelope.
Social Studies: In social studies, we will continue to work on identifying latitude and longitude on a map to help us located or identify specific places on a map. Another skill we will be working on is reading a map.
Montana History: In Montana History, we will look at the three regions of Montana (eastern, central, and western). Along with this, we will also be identifying the animal and plant life in each region, as well as, the land.
Writing: In writing this week we will be finishing our Summer Short writing and begin sharing our pieces with the class. For grammar, we will begin looking at the four types of sentences: imperative, interrogative, exclamatory, and declarative.
