Good evening everyone!
We had a great day at the Audubon Center today. We had a chance to look at nature, study plants, and learn the three different ways we can use plants. We can use plants for medicine, food, and material. We will do a follow up sometime in the spring!
Reading: In reading, we are beginning Unit 2 Week 1. We will be focusing on messages that can be found in animal stories. Our comprehension skill this week will be asking and answering questions and analyzing theme. We will also be putting the finishing touches on our inquiry brochures.
Spelling: Unit 2 Week 1. (The lists will come home tomorrow for those who requested the lists).
Math: In math this week we are reviewing multiplication. The students will need to be able to solve multiplication problems using at least two different ways. The different ways we have been practicing are the area model, regrouping (the standard algorithm), and expanded form. The test will be on Wednesday afternoon. On Friday, we will begin chapter 3. Chapter 3 is on double-digit times double digit multiplication.
Writing: In writing, we will continue to draft our personal narrative. We will be focusing on adding meaningful dialogue and figurative language.
This week:
October 27: Wear Orange and Black!
October 24-28: Silent Auction Bidding all week!!!
October 28: Family Fun Night and Silent Basket Auction from 4-6pm; Auction Bidding ends at 5:30pm
November 1, 2, 3: Noon Dismissal for Parent-Teacher Conferences
