I LOVE TO READ MONTH
February is National I LOVE TO READ month AND, Dr. Seuss’s birthday is Saturday, March 2. Let’s enjoy the dress-up themes this week and the many FUN Dr. Seuss books while we place a special focus on reading. All week you can enter the school at 8:00 am with a book and head to the gym for quiet reading. On Wednesday and Friday mornings there will be a special guest reader. You must be in the gym by 8 am to participate!!

Tuesday: Sweats and Slipper Day
Wednesday: Wacky Clothes Day
Thursday: Travel Shirt Day
Friday: Arrowhead Spirit Day
BEFORE SCHOOL READING, except Monday:
Tuesday and Thursday - 8:00-8:15 silent reading in the gym.
Wednesday and Friday - 8:00-8:15 Guest readers in the gym. MUST BE IN THE GYM BY 8:00 TO PARTICIPATE. I will monitor the kids in the gym.
With all of these events going on, let's take a look into our week:
Reading: In reading our focus this week is on: "How do writers look at success in different ways?" We will be reading a variety of poetry to help answer this focus question. The strategy we will be examining is literary elements in the form of stanzas and repetition. The comprehension skill is theme.
Math: In math, we are continuing to work with adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators. On Monday, we will be looking at renaming fractions and mixed numbers. On Tuesday, we will be adding and subtracting mixed numbers. On Wednesday, we will be subtracting with renaming. Finally, on Friday we will be exploring Algebra with fractions.
Social Studies: In social studies this week we will be visiting Independence Hall and taking a stop at our Nations Capital.

February 25: NAEP testing for 50 randomly selected 4th graders
February 25 - March 1: Dr. Seuss Week
February 28 - March 1: Mrs. Cunningham in Great Falls for Divisional Basketball
March Dates:
March 12-13: Fourth-Grade MontCast Science
March 18: Memory Book Online Orders DUE
March 22: Science Fair for K-5
