Good evening everyone!
We have a fun and busy week ahead of us!
Math: In math we are continuing to work with division. Today we investigated how to model division with remainders using tens and ones blocks. When dividing the given number into a specific number of groups students often had to regroup a ten block into 10 ones to continue sharing the total equally. Tomorrow we will be looking at how place value can help us determine where the first number goes in the quotient. As the week goes on we will begin dividing by one digit numbers and take a look at multistep division problems.
***We are planning to take our chapter 4 test next Thursday, February 2nd!
Reading: In reading, we are in our sixth week of unit three. This breaks our typically routine. Today we began an inquiry project on recycling. We began by evaluating sources for reliability. Tomorrow we will take notes on the importance of recycling and the recycling processes from the sources we evaluated. Throughout the remainder of the week, we will each be creating a poster on the importance of recycling and the steps a person can take to start recycling items themselves!
We will also be exploring another Readers theater towards the end of the week.
Spelling: There is no spelling this week.
Social Studies: We will be continuing our train ride through the Northeastern states. On Thursday, we will be reenacting an assembly line at the Hersey's Factory in Pennsylvania. Hopefully, our work is up to par!
Montana History: We will be analyzing the symbol on the Montana State flag on Tuesday. On Thursday we will be shifting our attention to one of the many tribal flags in our state. We will be taking a deeper look at the Crow flag and examining its symbolism.
