I apologize for not getting a blog post out last week.
We will be starting the Smarter Balance testing this week first thing in the morning. They will run from Monday, May 15 to Thursday, May 18. (And most likely continue another day or two next week).
Reading: We are now entering our third week. Our focus question is How have our energy resources changed over the years? Throughout the week we will be focusing on answering and asking questions, as well as, main idea to develop a deeper understanding of the text.
Math: In math, we will have a review day on Monday. My plan is to take the chapter 8 test on multiplying fractions on Tuesday. On Wednesday, and on into the remainder of the week we will start exploring decimals!
Spelling: Unit 6 Week 3
Social Studies: In social studies on Tuesday we will have a finish up day for the Midwestern States. On Thursday we will use our slides to take the Chapter 8 assessment and fill out our study guide for the states and capitals in the region. The Midwest states and capitals test will be on Tuesday (May 23). This will be our last social studies assessment of the quarter. We are going to keep pushing through the book to try and reach Montana! We will see what happens.
Writing: We will begin week 3. Please interview your chosen family member by Wednesday, May 17. (The week 1 Country of Origin slides are due Monday, May 15 and the Week 2 Family Tree and Family Traditions should be typed up and completed by Tuesday, May 16). I am really enjoying watching the students work through this project and discover new things about their families!
I will be out of the classroom on Friday, May 19, for our Divisoinal Track meet in Great Falls. They will be in great hands while I am away.
