Good morning!
Reading: IN reading we are focusing on reasons people moved west. (This is tying nicely with Montana History and the Louisiana Purchase). We will be working on two areas this week. Our first skill is visualizing. We are working on painting vivid pictures in our minds about what we are reading. Also, we are looking at cause and effect. We are identifying these as we read our various text for the week.
Math: In math, we finished up chapter 7. Yesterday we did a review session on the areas were are struggling. This mostly involved renaming fractions in subtraction. I will post a video of how we can do this. We will review our tests Thursday, and take a peek into our next chapter. Our next chapter shifts the focus away from fractions and moves towards lines, angles, and shapes. This will definitely be a change of pace.
Spelling: Unit 5 Week 2. Lists were passed out on Tuesday.
Social Studies: In social studies, we are continuing to work on our chapter 6 slides. We finished section 6.5: A Coal Mine in Appalachia yesterday. We are doing a great job of using complete short answers and digging through the section looking for text evidence.
Montana History: Yesterday we finished up our discussion about the Louisiana Purchase. We will start shifting our discussion to Lewis and Clark. This will be a big focus because as fourth graders we visit Pompey's Pillar towards the end of the school year.
Language: In language, we will be researching supporting details, examples, and facts for the reasons we came up with involving space exploration. The students have decided whether they are for or against space exploration. In grammar, we are finishing up our work on nouns.
