Good evening everyone! We have had a busy, productive week so far. We hope to continue this was the week goes on.
Here is a peek into our classroom this week:
Reading: We are in the sixth week of unit 4. Therefore, this week is an inquiry week. We have been working online on Wonders to complete our project this time around. The topic is bullying. After we have researched and developed some background on the topic we will be creating a fictional narrative about a student that gets bullied and how they handle the situation. I think this is a great topic for the class to research and become more familiar with various coping strategies.
Spelling: No spelling this week.
Math: In math, we are continuing to work on addition and subtraction of fractions with like denominators. We are doing well with the concept so far this week. We are trying to remember to be careful by checking our answers for reasonableness and a label.
Social Studies: In social studies, we will be beginning our journey through the South Eastern region. Today we began by completing the geography challenge to familiarize ourselves with the states and major landmarks in the area. On Thursday, we will start our next batch of slides;. These slides will have notes that will provide the students with a little more guidance in their note taking. This should better prepare them for their assessment at the end of our journey.
Language: In writing this week we will be analyzing persuasive essays as we prepare to write our own next week on space exploration.
Grammar: Our focus this week continues to be on different types of nouns.
