Good afternoon and Happy Sunday. I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!
We have a full week of learning ahead of us.
Math: In math, we are beginning to get a good grasp on the division algorithm. (This is the way we adults were taught!) We spent four days gaining an understanding of how to use the equation for division. On Monday, we will continue to explore the algorithm to gain an even deeper understanding of the strategy. On Tuesday, we will be looking at multistep division problems. Wednesday will be spent reviewing, studying, and practicing division. And then, finally, we will have our division test on Thursday morning.
Reading: In reading this week we are moving into Unit 4. Our focus of this first week is on Why do we need government? As we are reading and learning about the importance of government, we will be focusing on asking and answering questions related to our readings and cause and effect.
Spelling: In spelling, we will be in Unit 4 Week 1.
Montana History: In Montana History this week we will be looking at the Crow Flag and analyzing the seal. We will end the week with comparing the Montana Flag to the Crow Flag.
Social Studies: In Social Studies we will continue to work on our slides for chapter 4. This week we will be taking a stop in Pennsylvania and taking a stop at the Hersey's Factory to give a go at an assembly line.
Writing: In writing, we will being our peer conferences. Each student will fill out a sheet to jot notes on as they evaluate partners work and suggest improvements. The week will wrap up with small group conferences. During these conferences, I will be going over the requirements and helping the students with any last minute changes. My hope is to have these all completed and turned in this Friday.
